Monitoring Eye DDNS Setup for Remote Access171

Introduction

Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) is a service that enables you to assign a fixed hostname to a device with a dynamic IP address. This is useful for remote access to devices behind firewalls or routers, such as security cameras. Monitoring Eye provides a DDNS service that allows you to easily set up remote access to your cameras.

Prerequisites
A Monitoring Eye account
A dynamic IP address
A router or firewall with port forwarding enabled

Steps
Sign in to your Monitoring Eye account.
Click on the Settings tab.
Click on the DDNS tab.
Select the Enable DDNS checkbox.
Enter a hostname for your device. This hostname will be used to access your device remotely.
Select a DDNS provider from the drop-down menu. Monitoring Eye supports a variety of DDNS providers, including Dyn, No-IP, and ZoneEdit.
Enter your DDNS username and password.
Click on the Save button.

Port Forwarding

Once you have set up DDNS, you will need to forward the appropriate port on your router or firewall to your device. The port that you need to forward will depend on the type of device you are using. For example, the default port for web access to Monitoring Eye cameras is 80.

To forward a port, you will need to log in to your router or firewall's web interface. Once you are logged in, look for a section on port forwarding. Enter the following information:
Port: The port that you want to forward.
IP address: The IP address of your device.
Protocol: The protocol that you are using (TCP or UDP).

Once you have entered this information, click on the Save button. You can now access your device remotely using the hostname that you created earlier.

Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble setting up DDNS, here are a few things that you can try:
Make sure that your device has a dynamic IP address.
Make sure that your router or firewall is configured to allow port forwarding.
Make sure that you have entered the correct DDNS hostname, username, and password.

If you are still having trouble, you can contact Monitoring Eye support for assistance.
